  • The Golden Echo

Kimbra is a producer at heart and you can clearly hear that on tracks like “Goldmine” and “Love In High Places.” “Goldmine” is a track that builds upon a simple beat but offers so many layers that complement her strong but smooth voice. In comparison, “As You Are” takes a much more simplistic approach but still sounds just as thick as “Goldmine.” “As You Are” is one of those songs that are so simple and yet so moving that the listener just needs to hear over and over again. “The Golden Echo” is in it’s essence a step forward to what Kimbra believes Pop should sound like in the next few years.

Kimbra has completely outdone herself with this new 12-track masterpiece. She found a way to entirely change her sound from her previous album, Vows, while still staying completely true to who she is as an artist. From the very first song “Teen Heat,” Kimbra brings back classic “90’s music” and makes it current in 2014. “The Golden Echo” is Kimbra’s second full length studio album. The album has her signature electro-pop beats and classic R&B melodies. Kimbra has you bobbing your head back and forth with songs like “Miracle” and “90’s Music,” and then makes you really feels her heavy heart in the minimalist production of “As You Are.”
